Sacred Secrets!

Sacred Secrets is Now Available from Ellora's Cave!!

Book one in the Chronicles of Surrender series.

Celia sold herself in a bargain for rough play and a great story—not murder!

Celia Brentwood, fetish reporter for San Francisco’s Inappropriate Voices, agrees to auction herself off as a BDSM slave for thirty days. She plans to write a first-person exposé, but after she’s purchased by Garrett Lawrence, the most eligible gay bachelor in town, her story becomes an insider peek at the man whose lover was brutally murdered five years ago.

Garrett still mourns the loss of his beloved, but the past is hard to forget when it’s stalking him. The killer is obsessed with Garrett, and when Celia’s deception is discovered, the killer decides she’s the perfect route to his prey.

Chronicles of Surrender

Dear Readers,

Some of you have noticed that my Chronicles of Surrender are no longer available due to issues I will not publicly air. While this greatly saddens me, rest assured the series CHRONICLES OF SURRENDER is not doomed forever and will be up under the flag of a new publisher soon. I already working on arrangements for just that to happen as soon as possible.

The bigger news is that I am currently working on the menage a trois's, better known as Kitten, Garrett, and Lord Fyre, SEQUEL!! Yes, you read right! There will be RESURRECTION RUMORS.

If I had a wish it would be that all of you could have finished reading the series before being locked out by the take down. My apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced but rest assured they will be back very soon!

Cries of Penance Reviewed by Dark Divas

**Jae’s Review:
I fell in love with these characters back in book one, Sacred Secrets, and book 2, Sacred Revelations sealed the deal. There is no way I’d miss a story set in Roxy Harte’s Chronicles of Surrender series.

Cries of Penance brings to a head the relationship started in book one and shows us what can happen to this amazingly unique relationship when the world explodes around them.

Obviously the character development is outstanding; nothing else would account for how tied to these characters the readers become...

Be aware, as always, that the BDSM elements can be intense and dramatic...What a reader would be interested in knowing after reading books one through four is that the sexual elements in this book are new and unique as compared to the previous stories. In other words, there is no reliance on ‘tried and true’. Ms. Harte went out of her way to create an intensity based upon new issues within the relationship and while some made me personally wince (you’ll see what I mean toward the very end) all of them were nothing if not fascinating and clever...

I can’t wait to see what Ms. Harte has in store of us in book six!
Rated 4 ½ Delightful Divas by Jae!

CRIES OF PENANCE RELEASED!

The fifth book in the Chronicles of Surrender is now available!
And... I'm already receiving email responses to it:)
The verdict? My readers love this book! Yay!

Blurb:
Can love survive anything?

Thomas is torn between saving a past love and protecting the woman in his present. Traveling to Africa to save his wife’s life, he leaves his ménage unprotected against political forces that will stop at nothing to destroy the black ops organization he works for—even if it means attacking women and children.

On the day she thought her greatest challenge was going to be interviewing nannies, Celia finds herself chased by thugs. In order to survive she must evolve from Kitten to Tigress to protect not only her unborn, but also Thomas’s four young children.

On the run and without either Master or Lord Fyre to protect her, the question is where Celia’s journey will end.

Content warning, BDSM during pregnancy, lactation play, MMF.

Love Kitty Play?

Another pretty, pretty kitten...

Have you started reading the Chronicles of Surrender yet?

Kitten Play...

What is Kitten Play?

Kitten play is similar to Pony Play and is often seen in the BDSM community, though it may be more prominent in Asia than in the United States. Participants enjoy dressing in character, including ears and tail, and possibly furry leggings and arm wraps and being "forced" to take part in humiliating acts such as:

Crawling on hands and knees.
Communicating with purrs and meows
Drinking and eating from a pet bowl
Wearing a collar (bells and name tags are nice extras)
Sleeping on the floor, in a kennel cage, or on a pet pillow.
Being walked on a leash both privately and publicly.
Forced to use a litterbox

Writing! Finally...

Yesterday I finally had a great writing day...after months of being ill and slow writing days...I finally had a 9-K writing day! Halleluia! And all of it in the Chronicles of Surrenders series, so I'm not as panicked now as I was a few weeks ago and I feel like if I can have a few more really good days I can really wrestle Cries of Penance into some semblance of a story...

The problem is...I know how it begins...I know how it ends...and I know all the bits in the middle...but the elements of those middle bits keep wriggling around and they're really hard to grab hold of...

And so I've been struggling.

I also am having some trouble ripping the hearts out of my characters this story...usually I have no problem. Make them cry and scream and beg for mercy. I've got no problems with that. But for some reason, maybe its because I was seeing Cries of Surrender as the final installment, my characters were being difficult.

Well, no more. I caved in and gave them what they wanted.
This morning I woke up and hand wrote 2-K in my bedside tablet before I even climbed out of bed...and I titled it "Hallowed Screams" ... I don't know if it will make it as a full length novel but it tidies up everything that just won't fit into Cries of Surrender. AND it opened up the writing process for me to get an additional 7-K into the story I'm on deadline for.

I ended the day on a high note and for any author that's the bottom line.

AT WORK

I was supposed to be playing with grandbabies today ... instead I am working on edits for Sacred Revelations; and grandbabies get to spend the day with their Auntie.

The nice thing about edits is that you get to see how wonderful and amazing your story is after months of not seeing it and often times with a fresh I just sit back and say "Wow. I wrote that."

The horrifying thing about edits is there is so much left unsaid, unwritten ... and I am reminded I have a forth installment to write: Echos of Redemption.

There are some serious loose ends which need tied up...

The menage is being torn at by outside responsibilities, namely Thomas's whose wife and children are still in Africa and in daily danger; Thomas's brother who is also a secret agent, undercover and in constant danger; and lest we forget Eva, who is still holding a grudge against both Thomas and his brother.

And then there is Celia...
And Garrett...

Each dealing with feelings of insecurity and doubt.

I encourage you, if you have yet to start reading The Chronicles of Surrender, please mark September 7th on your calendar so you can start the series with Lyrical's rerelease of Sacred Secrets!

My Muse Works In Mysterious Ways

I have no idea what is going on here...
I was writing strong on my paranormal and then the worst happened. My thoughts froze, the ideas locked up, my characters stopped talking to me.

Seriously?

So, I step up to the plate and start a new WIP, it's actually in answer to a submissions call from Loose-Id which means there is a deadline involved. Sure, no problem...45 days...I've got this. And I did. I created a killer blurb, plotted the story start to finish, and started writing. Ready, Set...Stall.

Ughh!
Two chapters in and the story just stopped being told in my head.

Yesterday, I woke up and had a serious talk with my muse. It started out "WTF!???"
I didn't like the answer.

"George," she whispered.

No!

"George," she demanded more forcibly.

"I do not have time for these antics." George, meaning the WIP: Vow of Silence, technically the Fifth Chronicle of Surrender is so far back on the back burner that it shouldn't even have a working title and definitely does not belong in my thoughts.

"You have nothing but time," my muse said and I couldn't think of a single thing to say to that. I went outside and looked at my yard...I actually have grass this year, which is a huge improvement over the dirt field and spartan weeds I had last year. I watered the lush perennials which have returned to the bird sanctuary to brighten my day. I weeded the garden (a sure symptom of absolute desperation. I hate weeding.)

I went inside and opened the folder titled Vow of Silence and found the notes I've been taking over the last decade. George thoughts. And damn it if I didn't fall in love with George all over again.

Here's the first look at George from Sacred Secrets:

George Kirkpatrick is pacing, and his nervousness is making me insane. He’s the calmest, most rational handler I have on staff, my Number One, and he is pacing the length of my office. His blond hair and preppy countenance make him seem better suited for the tennis courts of LA or the golf clubs of Solvang. But no, he will tell you that is his past, he gave up a very successful LA psychiatric practice to get lost in the fantasy, a time before he made fantasy real life.

In the World of Lewd Larry's he is known as Dr. Psycho.

In my head he is a list of contradictions. In my head, he weeps. His heart has been broken. Yet, he still loves. He is optimistic, he is jaded.

He's a freaking psychiatrist for crying out loud.
He's a sadist.

Last night I wrote:
Chapter One
George

Holy shit, I'm really starting this book.
I don't know if I love my muse or hate her, but for the moment...I'm listening...and she's singing me the most beautiful love story about love and loss, betrayal and redemption...

Holy shit.

Gray Outside, Sunny Inside

Ever wake up just feeling insanely optimistic? You know, a song in your heart, a smile on your face...even though its seven am, raining, and you only had four hours sleep? Yeah, I'm not usually that girl...but this morning...I don't know, I just feel invincible. And the rejection letter may have played a small part because all day yesterday I dwelled on what I want from my writing career...

Last night, I wrote out The Plan.
This morning, I am off and running...

Here's how the rest of 2009 should go if my writing stays on track:

DEAD GIRL:
The paranormal WIP, now has a working title: Dead Girl. The paranormal venture is going to have three books total and I plan to get out and hussle them the old fashioned way...find an agent, find a publisher...hopefully it won't take a decade, but ya know, I've got nothing but time. The other two stories in the series will be titled: BIG BAD and MOMMA GOOD. This series is going to be my driving focus for the rest of this year. (80K each)

PRODIGAL SLAVE:
In between paranormal drafts I've gotta get WIP Prodigal Slave finished and out the door...it's still at 42K, I'm shooting for 55k...Xandra, after last night's read advised 100k, calling it a Big Book. I'm still feeling 55K, maybe 60, 80 tops, but we'll see. I already sent out a query promising ASAP so I really gotta move on this one. (bdsm, erotica)

VOW OF SILENCE:
The secondary character from The Chronicles of Surrender, George aka Dr. Psycho, has his own story to tell and turns out it is a prequel to the series...so I hope to get it finished this year. Right now it is roughly at 20%. Still deciding where to send it though...I have my fingers crossed for a particular house and have already queried an editor who wants to see it. (80K, bdsm, erotica)

ECHO OF REDEMPTION:
Yes, the fourth book of the Chronicles of Surrender is back in my thoughts and I'll be taking notes the rest of the year with it being a main focus by December. (80-90K, bdsm, erotica)

So, fewer small books...ie REAPER, VOYEUR, EDGE...but still room for one or two if I am so inspired...

Still have the big book LOVERS on a back burner, but sadly that baby is going to have to wait until 2010. I mean, all totalled, I'm looking at writing 400K just on what's listed...I know, divided by 8 months, roughly 50K per month, lofty goal, but I needed to start somewhere.

Where'd It Go?

Curious minds want to know:
What happened to the Chronicles of Surrenders links at Liquid Silver Books??

The Chronicles of Surrender were originally released by Liquid Silver Books...

They are being rereleased 2009-2010 by Lyrical Press. I am very excited about being represented by this small NY Press and will soon be able to hold a print copy in my hand.
**Author's edit:
I received an email inquiring about the fourth book in the series Echo of Redemption, asking when it would become available for those of you who are intently following the series. I believe I originally announced it would be this summer; however, since Lyrical Press is taking over publication of the series, the books will be released in order. Sacred Secrets should be released this summer followed approximately every four months by each that follows. The soonest Echo of Redemption will release will be Summer 2010.

I will continue to write for Liquid Silver Books and I have a paranoral coming soon titled REAPER.

In other news...I am in the process of updating my webpage. So, let me know what you think.

Do You Have Questions?

I hope you enjoyed a look at what I am working on now from the post: Where is Kitten?

I am hoping to start a dialogue over the week of February 14-20th with questions from fans of the series: Want to know Garrett's birth sign? Or Lord Fyre's? Want to know what is going on with Fyre's wife Latisha (who was last seen in the middle of a desert giving birth)? Let me know in the comment section what YOU want to know and I will answer as many questions as I can! Hopefully with some excerpts from FUTURE books in the series;)

Have no idea what I am talking about? Get caught up by reading the Series The Chronicles of Surrender:
Book I: Sacred Secrets
Book II: Sacred Revelations
Book III: Unholy Promises

And coming as soon as I can finish writing it...the stand alone story that follows George and Gigi:
Book IV: Vow of Silence

A Fan Asked...

Yesterday one of my readers text me asking, "What's going on with Kitten? Where is she? What's she doing? When will we see her again?"

Well the easy question is that we last saw her in Unholy Promises...unraveling at the seams because she discovered she was pregnant...and babies, like plot development takes time...so Kitten is gestating...

With the release of Unholy Promises, the menage of Kitten, Garrett, and Thomas strengthened...lots of revelations and surprises...and the new characters Daniel and Eva were introduced, which still need resolution. Thomas's ex wife Latisha too seems to need closure. So I have a lot of plotting to wrap up the loose-ends of this menage...

Sacred Secrets and Sacred Revelations were both Garrett and Celia's (Kitten) stories. I always considered Unholy Promises to be (Thomas') Lord Fyres's story...

When I first envisioned The Chronicles I saw 5 stand alone books: Garrett's Story, Celia's Story, Thomas's Story, George's Story, and Jackie's Story; however my characters had different ideas...and thus the first three books have been the development of the menage...

Now, I am ready to get my series back on track (Kitten seems okay with this idea because she is leaving me alone to think about my secondary characters.)

The Chronicle that I am writing now is based around George Kirkpatrick, the professional dominant known as Dr. Psycho, and explores the relationship that destroyed him and thus rebuilt him... If you've been following the series you will know that George pre-Lewd Larry's days was a prominent psychiatrist. Here is how he was described in Sacred Secrets by Garrett:

Sacred Secret's Quote:
George Kirkpatrick is pacing and his pacing is making me insane. He is the calmest, most rational handler I have on staff, my Number One, and he is pacing the length of my office. His blond hair and preppy countenance make him seem better suited for the tennis courts of LA or the golf clubs of Solvang. But no, he will tell you that is his past; he gave up a very successful LA psychiatric practice to get lost in the fantasy, a time before he made fantasy real life.

So what experience could be so traumatic that a very successful, much acclaimed psychiatrist would leave his career, leave his life, to take refuge in a BDSM-Fantasy Club?

Well, of course it's a woman...
And I want you to meet her...

Want more about George's Story? I'll try to post an excerpt soon...but I think there must be some begging involved...don't make me flog you....mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha

So, I guess the full answer to my reader's question is: Kitten will be seen again.

Just not yet...not until all of the secondary characters have been developed as stand alone books:
George's Story will be the next release: titled: Vow of Silence

Still jelling in my brain are:
Morgana's story: Hallowed Screams
Daniel's Story: Echoes of Redemption
Jackie's Story: Transcendence

The way my brain sees it right now, the final book of the series will be the conclusion of the Garrett, Thomas, Celia menage: Whispers of Forgiveness.

Blogging today at SExPressions...

Today my main blog is at SExPressions...but I didn't want you to be left hanging with nothing here...so I am also posting an excerpt that portrays the newest character added to the Chronicles of Surrender series: Daniel, Thomas's twin brother, also an undercover agent, and seriously more twisted and evil that Lord Fyre ever thought about being. The Question is, can he be saved?

There are even more questions and answers, and another excerpt, at SExPressions...so click over after you read Daniel's excerpt:

(excerpt starts here)

In the hallway, Henri waits with two guards. I am handcuffed before I realize what is happening.

“Am I not going back to The States, then?” I try to keep a grip on my voice to not allow the panic in my chest to show.

“In due time, Thomas,” Henri answers before nodding at the guards. Their signal to take me to wherever they plan to take me, which to my surprise is a Physician’s Conference Room two floors higher.

I’d considered breaking free while in the elevator, actually my best bet of an escape, but my curiosity got the best of me. When I am forced into the room and find myself with a conference table being all that stands between me and my brother, I wish I had escaped when I’d had the chance. I fight the guards, seeing red, wanting to inflict the same pain on Nikkos that he inflicted on Eva.

The guards hold tight, though conference chairs end up turned on their sides and I end up a little black and blue for my efforts.

“I’m going to kill you!” I promise him.

“Boys, boys,” Nikkos says in our native tongue. “Would you cut off your own right arm just so your brother would feel the pain for a lifetime?” he challenges me in a strong firm voice, a voice from a time long ago. He recites the chastisement our uncle used so many times as we were growing up, each of us always trying to cause the other great harm. “You are each other’s blood forever; no one will ever love you or know you as well as your other.”

That is what Uncle called us…Other. He was mine and I was his other. The times when we rolled around as children in the tall grasses behind our house seems so far away, so remote, but there is still truth in our uncle’s words. Though that truth brings both gladness and pain.

I shrug off two of the guards, facing him squarely. “Would you have killed her?”

“I had no idea she was the one you loved. I promise you that.” He walks around the table, coming closer to me. “You know as well as I do that I could not have blown almost a decade’s work by this agency to save one operative.” He pauses when he gets near enough to put one hand on each of my shoulders. “But if I had known that she was yours, I would have made sure she lived. I’m sorry.”

It is then that I notice his eyes reflect the truth of every word. He also thinks she is dead.

“Cobra didn’t kill her. She lives,” I tell him and am surprised when he grabs me, squeezing me hard, saying, “Thank God, then.” He pulls back from me, searching my eyes, “But still your heart breaks?”

“Whether we have a future together or not remains uncertain.”

“You have many who love you,” he states.

I smile, answering, “I was always more loved than you.” I don’t doubt that several of the people in the room, if not all, can make out most of what we are saying to each other, but still, it seems important that we use Greek.

“I have lovers,” he quarrels.

“But I have love.”

“Enough love to heal you of the pain she causes you?”

I don’t answer, I shrug, the lump of uncertainty forming in my throat too painful, her almost death still too recent, her prognosis too unsure.
Henri makes tsking noises as he personally frees my hands. I am shocked into silence; my brother so transformed from the last time I saw him. My mirror image now barely even shares a resemblance.

When I last saw him, we both sported ponytails and goatees. He no longer sports a beard, having trimmed it down to a small patch of thick fur just beneath his lower lip. Each of his cheek dimples sport a pointed silver stud piercing, making his face even more intriguing, and he wears not one set of small silver hoops in his earlobes, but four. He also pierced his tongue, my quick glimpse reveals a wide metal spider. My mind falls into the gutter, curious as to what other piercings his body hides.

“I’ve changed a bit.” Smiling, laughing, he turns in a circle, giving me the whole show, since I have obviously been struck dumb by his new appearance. His head is shaved with a Japanese-inspired tattoo beginning on the back of his skull extending down the back of his neck before disappearing under the edge of his shirt. Through the sheer fabric, I can tell his entire back and a large section of his chest have been inked, as have his arms down to his wrists.

“That’s an understatement, brother.” Free of the handcuffs, I hug my brother tight. He is much thinner than the last time I saw him. The hug reveals that the six years have taken their toll on his body. His ribs and pelvic bones protrude prominently, and because of the thinness, his muscles seem longer and leaner, a fact not easily missed by his choice of clothing, a black microfiber long-sleeved T-shirt that clings to his solid pecs and six-pack abs. The changes make Nikkos look ten to fifteen years younger than me. Yes, he could easily pass for twenty-eight; however, a second glance reveals his age deeply ingrained in his eyes, the windows to his soul revealing he has paid a very high price.

Happy LGBT History Month!

There's a common link in all of my books to date: LGBT...and really, not G as in cowboys or vampires, but G as in believable men in love with each other. The same would go for the L (this isn't a man's fantasy clinch)...the B? I write like everyone is B...I can't help it. I write what I know. And the T? If you haven't met Jackie the MtoF diva goddess extraordinaire from the Chronicles of Surrender series...you should meet her. Soon. I love Jackie more than any of my other characters...shh...please, don't tell the others!

It seems a natural thing to look backward this month...

It's October.

I know that doesn't mean a thing to some, but for me it is the last month of the year, a time of reflection and planning, looking backward and forward...the perfect month to also celebrate LGBT History...

So today I posted at the Femmes Guide to Absolutely Everything...a slight rant, a small look backward, a small look forward, and gratitude...
