ROXY HARTE ON TOP TEN GLBT LIST!

Heart of Change is on My Bookstore and Mores GLBT TOP TEN List!
Guess who's throwing confetti and celebrating!

And...
Loving Venus - Loving Mars, Talk and Book Reviews About F/F Love and Sex reviewed Heart of Change and it is a surprisingly detailed and well-thought out review. It's honest with positive and negatives. It ended on this note:
"(Heart of Change) touched me on several levels and was not a easy breezy fluffy love story. While there is lots of sex in this story, I was more affected by the relationship dynamics and feelings between the women. I definitely recommend Heart of Change for anyone who wants a good f/f story that's not just about the sex."

Live Earth Run/Walk...

Yesterday we attended the 6K DOW Run/Walk to raise money and awareness for people in Africa and around the world who have to walk 6K everyday for their clean drinking water.

The event  took place over the course of 24 hours in 150 countries, featuring concerts and water education activities to ignite a massive global movement to help solve the water crisis.

Daughter Kiya and friend Callie ran, I chauffeured, provided moral support and walked around the park enjoying the beauty along the river...

What a great day.
So many people with such positive energy to share:)

Imagine having to search for clean water...makes me so grateful all I have to do is turn on my tap...

It isn't too late to help, if you are interested in donating:

Give now to help bring clean water to people around the world! Your donation will go to Global Water Challenge, a coalition of leading organizations working together to save lives by providing clean drinking water and sanitation. Currently, dirty water kills more children than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. Yet these deaths are completely preventable. The solutions are known and they’re inexpensive. $25 gives one classroom full of children clean water for a year – keeping kids healthy and in school. $25 is all it takes to provide a person with clean drinking water from a well. Pirating And What's Being Done About It...

Pirating pisses me off...
There's so many arguments made by people for and against stealing someones work...and yes, getting an ebook for free as part of a fileshare group is stealing. The books average $2-$6 if bought legitimately and if you didn't pay for it online, you stole it...that's my side...I'm against pirating.

Those for pirating books will say they aren't hurting anyone...
Well, they aren't hurting themselves at any rate.
I personally won't be black and blue if someone steals a copy of my book...
My paycheck will be smaller though...

Let's put this in perspective.
Every time you steal a copy of an ebook from a pirating site because you aren't hurting anyone by doing it...do the right thing and go to your boss and say "This hour's on me. I'm working for free." It probably won't make you feel better...but I'd feel great knowing that you have taken the first small steps in my shoes...

Maybe you agree with me that pirating is wrong and you'd like to know what can be done about it...
Contact your senator, congressman, president...and say, "Hey, I want legislation against digital theft, specifically ebook pirating."

The UK is passing legislation even as I type this...(news article)
My question is, why hasn't the US done anything?

A Short Break From The Eye Candy...

Ahhh, isn't she just too cute?
I love her little pink ears:)

I received an email from a fan the other day who wanted to share with me a "funny story"...it seemed she'd gotten this cute new puppy from the breeder and learned on her AKC papers that her puppy's name was registered as Roxy Harte.

Now that is a funny coincidence...
I wonder if the breeder is a fan too?

Emotionally and Psychologically Compelling...

At the advice of someone I respect, I went over to Goodreads and created an author account. Goodreads is a place for readers to critique and talk about their favorite books...

I don't think the person who recommended I go there realized I am trying to meet a deadline! I'm fairly distractable! I'm a perfectionist! I could spends days at Goodreads reading, analyzing, comparing...asking myself if the readers critique was too harsh or whether their thoughts are justified...where there praise is too over the top...

I have to Write!!!

So far I've lost a day's writing...almost two. Enough is enough. I talked to my hubby about what's bothering me most...

I want to please EVERYONE

He thought that was hilarious...

He asked what was the number one comment about my writing, good or bad...
"...touched me on an emotional level..."
"...trait is to write emotionally and psychologically compelling stories..."
"...an emotional rollercoaster ride from start to finish..."

Am I happy with that?
Yeah, I am. If I am remembered for one reason as a writer, I'd like to be remembered for touching someone emotionally...

So, for now, I'm stepping away from Goodreads and getting back to writing. I have to remember that not everyone will love every word, every beginning, middle, or ending of every book and that's okay.

So, I'm just going to keep writing the books I want to read someday...

No Prom For Gays...

It's an old song still playing in the school system...if you are gay or lesbian don't even think about coming to the prom. If you are a guy and come wearing a dress you will be stopped at the door...if you are a girl wearing a tux just stay home...

In Mississippi, Constance McMillan sought a higher ruling and WON.

The prom's still off at a Mississippi high school that canceled it instead of letting a lesbian student bring her girlfriend, but a federal judge ruled Tuesday that the district's actions did violate the teen's constitutional rights.

So, where exactly does that leave Constance and other teens like her? With no prom. I guess the judge can't force the school to hold its annual prom...the judge wrote, "requiring defendants to step back into a sponsorship role at this late date would only confuse and confound the community on the issue.""

It all makes me weary.

I guess some of the parents have joined together to host a "private prom" so that everyone isn't left out of something so important but it is unclear to Constance whether she will be welcome to attend.
