You can read the full review here as well:
Summary:
Kari is twenty-one, but in many ways she is still a child; having lost her parents as a baby and then her only other living relatives — the grandparents who raised her — as a teen, she has a hard time forming emotional attachments. Believing she can fill the void in her life with music and sex, she dances her evenings away at a Cyber-Goth club and leaves with the man of the day.
That is, until she is introduced to Julian, a man who loves the cyber scene as much as she does and has a British accent to die for. There’s only one problem…he refuses to have sex with her.
Julian is brokenhearted after losing the masochist he groomed for years to meet his every sadistic need. As a fashion buyer for the family business, he travels the world to stay connected to the ever changing trends of the Cyber-Goth community, shopping by day and dancing by night, but left with little time to find a girlfriend. In a moment of desperation agrees to meet a girl who should fit perfectly in his Cyber-Goth world — and that she does. There’s just one big problem: she is completely vanilla and unable to trust.
Is there anyway for Kari and Julian to meet halfway, or will Kari have to learn to surrender her every fear in order to trust Julian enough to become park of his dark, dangerous kinky world?
Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, substantial BDSM theme and content (including/not limited to bondage, domination/submission, flogging, rope play, spanking) daddy/daughter play, menage, same sex interaction (f/f).
Jae’s Review:
I couldn’t resist picking this book up when I saw the blurb. I am completely fascinated by Cyber-Goth style communities. With the added bonus of Roxy Harte as the author, who could resist picking up Trust.
Julian and Kari were incredibly interesting. I don’t have a way to describe them really, other than coarse and unrefined. Don’t get me wrong here, I am in no way talking about the writing, which was smooth and engaging throughout this story. I’m referring to the way Roxy Harte developed the personalities of her characters. The characters themselves have a long way to go to be comfortable within themselves. There were times I felt like Julian should just walk away before he hurt poor Kari; and times when I thought that if Kari were any less clued in to her own needs, wants and desires, she’d surely have to live in a protective bubble.
But somehow through it all it was like a key trying to find its matching lock in a pitch black room: the odds aren’t good, but there is a glimmer of hope. And when Kari and Julian find each other, the results are well worth the tribulations.
Keep in mind there are some intense scenes in this book, and overall I’d certainly recommend Trust to anyone who reads Roxy Harte’s books or who enjoys intensely psychological BDSM stories. What I like is that the psychological dynamics are not just one-sided. So often an author focuses on one character with the other character as the savior (primarily the Dom saving a sub). Roxy Harte rarely takes the easy way out from what I’ve read of her stories in general. In Trust, both characters go through a lot to get us to our happy ending. It’s nice to see the growth and change on both their parts.
The ending was very nice and wrapped things up quite well, while leaving me wanting more from them in the future. I’d love to hear more from these characters and their world. I think Roxy Harte set us up nicely for another story featuring Naomi should she decide to write that one. I know I would certainly love to read it.

Chronicles of Surrender Reviews
The Chronicles of Surrender are really getting some great press lately...yay! Here are a few selections from the latest round of reviews:
and the next day:
Manic Readers Alex JouJou said, "First if you have not read the first two books in the series: Sacred Secrets and Sacred Revelations you must do so now. Do not stop. Do not pass go. Just collect the riches that come with the two that came before and hang on for the ride of your life! ... Book #3 is a departure in the series—being much more focused on Frye and his past as well as his future. Since he was the character I was majorly in lust with from the first two books I eagerly awaited what new treats were in store for me (and Kitten) in Unholy Promises. The action is sharp and taut—bowstring tight ... I’ve often read online that Roxy Harte writes BDSM erotica with a lens of examining the emotional and mental aspects of these types of relationships and I can say she does it extremely well. She is amongst the best writing in this area of the genre today. She will throw you far and fast past all your hard limits—and you’ll like it. It seems as if every scene has even more emotional impact than the last. Plus the sex. Oh. My. God the sex. Mind blowing."
You can books from the series directly from Lyrical Press in either ebook or print: Roxy Harte at Lyrical Press
From Whipped Cream Erotic Romance, "Echo of Redemption...The “play” really took precedence in this story even over the sex which I found fascinating. It definitely gave me a better insight on what a BSDM relationship can be. So if you are a true BDSM lover this would be a good series to look into."
Of course I love the reviews... so excited to finally be getting some recognition for this series after all the years of hard work.
What I love even more are my the reactions my readers share with me!
Just this week Danielle posted on her Facebook status:
"Just got the 4th book in the Chronicles of Surrender!!! Echo of Redemption will be going to work with me tonight and entertaining me."
and the next day:
"Has contemplated strangling a certain author... It is not good for me to get THIS wrapped around a book series.. especially when its still in progress and I have to wait for the next one! The book that I am currently reading is Echo of Redemption by the beautiful and talented Roxy Harte... it is the 4th in her "Chronicles of Surrender" and she is driving me flipping nutz!"

Cries of Penance Reviewed by Dark Divas
**Jae’s Review:
I fell in love with these characters back in book one, Sacred Secrets, and book 2, Sacred Revelations sealed the deal. There is no way I’d miss a story set in Roxy Harte’s Chronicles of Surrender series.
Cries of Penance brings to a head the relationship started in book one and shows us what can happen to this amazingly unique relationship when the world explodes around them.
Obviously the character development is outstanding; nothing else would account for how tied to these characters the readers become...
Be aware, as always, that the BDSM elements can be intense and dramatic...What a reader would be interested in knowing after reading books one through four is that the sexual elements in this book are new and unique as compared to the previous stories. In other words, there is no reliance on ‘tried and true’. Ms. Harte went out of her way to create an intensity based upon new issues within the relationship and while some made me personally wince (you’ll see what I mean toward the very end) all of them were nothing if not fascinating and clever...
I can’t wait to see what Ms. Harte has in store of us in book six!

By Gone Era
Doesn't this photo just make you long for a bygone era?
City Hall Subway Station in New York City, New York.(photo by John-Paul Palescandolo)
The City Hall Subway Station opened in October 1904 and was part of the first line of the New York City Subway. It was designed to be the showpiece of the new subway. The last train stopped at City Hall on December 31, 1945. The station was then closed because it would have been expensive and far too difficult to renovate the station at the modern standards. Another reason to close the station was the nearby Brooklyn Bridge station, which is much busier.
The ghost station is still used as a turning loop for 6 Lexington Avenue Local trains. The station can also be visited by registered members of the New York City Transit Museum.

What I'm Working On...
So, Vow of Silence is underway and has me so stressed out...
With the menage under wraps having taken five books to tell the story...I do not want another long drama...I do want a tight story...
And there is just so much stuff to fit between the cover...
I love George, I want my readers to love him too, and after two AMAZING MEN (Garrett and Thomas) it's insane writing another compelling man AND keeping all of their traits separated so that each man has very distinct personalities...
As if that isn't enough...
What was I thinking?
I'm writing about a psychiatrist and has several hospital scenes made almost paralyzingly impossible because I am doctor (Iatrophobia) and hospital (nasocomephobia) phobic! When writing the scenes involving doctors and hospitals I have often fallen asleep while at the keyboard...which has obviously caused delays.
One thing that has helped is working on a novel that has been on my backburner...and using that WIP as a reward for Vow of Silence wordcount of 1K or more at a single sitting...
So, this second WIP is a currently untitled paranormal suspense that I hope to shop around some agents in 2011. Here's a question for my readers: would you prefer I use Roxy Harte or seek a different pseudonym for the novels I write that are not erotic in nature? I plan to use a different name but opinions seem so divided!

Are You On Goodreads?
All my books are listed at Goodreads and I've had a few readers from that site email me to say what they loved and didn't love about many of them. Fortunately the love is outweighing the negatives...and so far Cries of Penance is rating 4.5 stars!
Here is what Zoe had to say about the Chronicles of Surrender series:
I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to read this book, even though my classes resumed this morning at 8:30am... I am so glad I did. Here's my take on this series:
Sacred Secrets AMAZING and a great intro into "the world"...
Sacred Revelations PIVOTAL and RIVETING. Book 2 really develops the menage. Unholy Promises NECESSARY. Yes its a little jarring, we're sucked away from the menage for a moment but it shows us that Lord Fyre really does have two distinct lives... Echo of Redemption PROGRESSION. No relationship is stagnant. Haven't you ever wondered what happens after 'and they lived happily ever after?' This book really lets us in. What a roller coaster ride of emotion! Cries of Redemption CONCLUSION. I hate series with no end in sight. Roxy hasn't given me that. I feel completion, closure. That doesn't mean I will forget these characters...I will NEVER forget these characters. and now I've learned there is a Book 6: Vow of Silence...not about the menage but set in the world of the menage. Is that disappointing? no way! I'm really looking forward to it. I think I've found my new favorite author.
So if you are on Goodreads or Facebook, my two primary haunts these days, give me a shout out...or send me a friend request:) or you can email me directly, I'd love to hear what you think about my series the Chronicles of Surrender.

Another Awesome Review
This is what Tina at Two Lips Review had to say about SURVIVAL INSTINCT:
Roxy Harte has written a short but hotter than sin read with Survival Instinct. I loved the character depth and chemistry these two have. In his state of mind, I felt a deep desire for Brian to resolve his problems and find a happy ending. He really deserves one. Tobias is a very interesting character too. His blend of Indian medicine man and modern day lover was a great blend that kept me reading as I wanted to know more about him. I really enjoyed as well the way they used their love to overcome tragedy by making it into something healing and beautiful. As much as Brian needed someone to love, so did Tobias. Together, they are the perfect pair, balancing each other out.
The only complaint I have about this novel is it had to end. I would really enjoy visiting Tobias and Brian again in the future to see where they are in a year or so.

You'll Find Me At Faire
Saturday and Sunday I'll be at Ohio Renaissance Festival! Come out and say Hi!, I'll be the ale wench at the New World Knoll...
This is officially my last year working at ORF.
Between my Rheumatoid Arthritis stealing perfectly good writing days and MANY deadlines in my future, I need every day committed to writing and that includes days I'd rather be at faire.
Does that mean my Faire Days are over?
No way! I plan to schedule several nearby faires into my 2011 calendar, I'll just be taking a play "Day" instead of committing eight weekends...
So, come see me at faire!

Vow of Silence Delay...
It's official, the release date for Vow of Silence is going to be delayed.
I know, I hear you moaning...
I'm moaning.
It just can't be helped. My original deadline for completion was Oct 1 and I just wasn't comfortable with the story, or the characters...
So I asked for an extension (time for me to whip this story into shape) and sought the guidance of my beloved critique partner, Xandra Gregory, who was more than happy to rip it into shreds for me:) The result was that she told me exactly what I've been feeling all along...and whether my fans like it or not...the story has to say what the story has to say.
Here's the thing. I do read all the comments on blogs about my stories and my characters and I take the criticism to heart. No one likes to hear that a reader hated a particular story - or story line - but I can't write the story a few readers think they want to read.
I have to write the story my characters want me to tell...
And I was trying to write what I thought my readers want to read.
Rip, rip, rip.
That's the sound of the ms being shredded.
And now I'm ready to write the real story...

Another Novel Accepted by Lyrical Press...
It's finally official... I signed a contract for the WIP titled Lovers. I'm sure you remember that one...this post proclaimed in 12/08 that it was near completion so I could start submitting it around...
I'm really not sure how it ended up back on the back burner for so long, except I didn't really think it was finished -- and maybe it isn't -- maybe it's a two volume story, although I really don't want to consider that right now. I want it to be finished. I want to put the characters to bed. Really. It just seems like every time I read it I want to say more! Right now its at 85K and I know my editor thinks its long enough...
Here's the Blurb in case you missed it the first time around:
Love, lust, hate, revenge, heart-break, and triumph abound for four men and five women, experiencing the joys and trials of polyamorous-life Los Angeles-style. They're not above wading into each others drama, wallowing in each others misery, offering unsolicited advice, or swapping romantic partners. The sex is hot, the lust hotter, and the jealousy scathing in this tale of personal evolution where everyone has a stake in the outcome of who ends up sleeping with who.

On the day she thought her greatest challenge was going to be interviewing nannies, Celia finds herself chased by thugs. In order to survive she must evolve from Kitten to Tigress to protect not only her unborn, but also Thomas’s four young children.
On the run and without either Master or Lord Fyre to protect her, the question is where Celia’s journey will end.

TRUST RELEASED
Kari is so desperate to find love, she will do anything to find it, even if that means surrendering her every fear in order to trust sadistic Julian enough to become part of his dark, dangerous kinky world...
“I’ll never be able to fall in love. I think I need to see a shrink,” Kari said. She and her best friend, Naomi, had just returned home from clubbing and were both a little tipsy, a lot exhausted, and after commiserating over drinks about their current single status, both feeling very alone. Naomi kissed her. “I’ll always love you.” “I’m being serious.” “Is there something you’re not telling me?” “What do you mean?” Kari asked. She watched Naomi tromp out of the room, only to return with two beers. “In your childhood, did something happen to you?” Naomi handed one to Kari before flopping down beside her on the green sofa. It wasn’t a regular, run-of-the-mill sofa. It was faux fur in a hideous shade of green that reminded everyone who saw it of Oscar the Grouch. “No! I had a perfect childhood,” Kari lied. It wasn’t any of Naomi’s business, and she didn’t want her friend pointing fingers at her grandparents for problems in her sex life. That was just gross. “I just think a shrink would help me figure out what’s wrong with me. Tell me why I can’t form attachments. It doesn’t matter if the sex is horrible or over the moon, I don’t feel anything.” Kari took a long swallow of beer, liking the way the cool liquid burned the back of her raw throat. They’d screamed every song the band had played all night, and now she was paying for it. She slid her fingers through the matted fabric of the old couch, remembering the day she saw it. Her father had bought it for her because she wouldn’t leave the store without it, throwing a temper tantrum worthy of an Emmy. She closed her eyes, trying to remember her father’s face, but only remembered him tossing her into the air so that she fell into the sofa’s overstuffed cushions. “So, what? You don’t orgasm?” “Yes, I orgasm,” Kari snapped, opening her eyes. She wasn’t going to admit she’d never orgasmed with a guy, not even to her best friend. “How else would I know if it was over the moon? I meant emotionally.” “The only thing wrong with you is that you haven’t met the right man yet. I wish you’d let me introduce you to Julian.” She rolled her eyes, trying to make her eyes look really dramatic as they rolled because sometimes you could miss the eye roll, and it was important for Naomi to know she just wasn’t feeling it. “All your friends are into weird shit.” “Hell yeah! And we have a lot of fun.” Naomi grabbed her hands, her black-polished nails biting into Kari’s skin to enforce her sincerity. “Just one date.” “I don’t know; maybe.” Using her cell, Naomi dialed Julian. Kari knew Naomi well enough to guess her intent and tried to grab the phone away from her. “Wait. I didn’t mean now. Or anytime soon. I’m not ready for this. I have to think about it.” “What’s to think about? Just talk to him.” “No!” Kari stood, meaning to leave, but her legs got tangled around her six-inch platform boots. She sprawled on the floor, beer foaming over her hand and down her arm. “You said you don’t feel anything, but you’re shaking like a leaf at the mere thought of meeting one of my kinky friends. That means your adrenaline is flowing.” “Sure, fear! I want to feel love!” Naomi switched her phone to speaker so they could listen to the ringing sound together, and then a man answered. “Allo?” “Hey, Julian, it’s Naomi.” “Love, how are you?” Kari wondered how she was ever going to say no to a guy with a British accent. They wouldn’t have sex in the first hour or anything. She’d at least make him take her to dinner. She whispered, “He sounds gay.” Naomi gestured W-E with her fingers. Whatever. “I want to introduce you to someone. She’s shy, not in the lifestyle, but I think you’d have a lot in common.” “Meaning you think she’d enjoy BDSM if she gave it a try? Or meaning I ought to explore my vanilla side because I haven’t found love in kink circles?” Kari felt herself blushing and was glad he couldn’t see her through the phone. “Meaning, I think you’ll like her. I think she’ll like you. All I’m asking is for you to give her a call and see where it leads. Okay?” “You have me on speakerphone. That means she’s there with you.” Naomi clicked it off speaker. “Actually, I was on speaker because I just did my nails and I didn’t want to smear the paint. Will you call her?” A break in the conversation. “She’s really shy; I don’t know if she’ll do it.” Naomi closed the connection and looked at Kari expectantly. Curiosity was killing Kari. “So?” “He said for you to call him.” “God, no!” * * * * * The next morning she awoke to find Naomi had already left for work, but she’d sent Kari a text with Julian’s phone number and a photo attachment. The photo took her breath away. He was wearing spiked chrome cyber goggles and a white scarf over his nose and mouth. Very incognito. She laughed because she could very easily imagine herself -- wearing her black and silver corset, black taffeta skirt, and buckled leather platform boots -- beside him in the photo. She called and liked the way he answered the phone. “Allo.” “You don’t know me; I’m Naomi’s friend.” “So Naomi’s friend. Tell me about yourself.” She laughed nervously, realizing she hadn’t told him her name. “I’m Kari,” and then spent the better part of half an hour telling him everything she thought was most important about herself. When she was certain she’d said just enough but not too much, she asked him to tell her about himself. “I’m sure Naomi already told you that I’m a sexual sadist. I won’t apologize for that.” “Actually, she didn’t, but I assumed you were one of her kinky friends.” “You’re completely vanilla.” It was a statement, not a question, and that ruffled Kari. He made it sound like she wouldn’t be any fun at all because she wasn’t into bedroom games. She considered hanging up on him for principle’s sake, but he asked, “Dinner tonight?” before she had a chance. * * * * * Julian was over a half hour late, though he had texted to explain he’d had a conference call run overtime. A conference call? She was immediately turned off because if he was a businessman, he’d be stodgy…and old…neither of which were appealing, and for the hundredth time she wondered why she’d even considered Naomi’s matchup. Curiously she watched him approach from his car. His hair was dark and shoulder length. She decided it was too long for any businessman she’d ever met before. He was tall, lanky, and dressed all in black: long-sleeved black dress shirt, narrow black tie, and black slacks. She wondered if Naomi’d coached him. “So sorry,” he said after she’d opened the heavy wood door. A screened door stood between them. “I came straight from the office, so I didn’t have a chance to change.” Kari swallowed, speechless, having never been on a date with anyone as strikingly handsome by half. He had strong facial features and wide green eyes fringed in the longest, darkest lashes she’d ever seen on a man. His eyes were outlined in black kohl. Holy crap. Now she knew Naomi’d coached him. “Please come in.” “I left the car running, for the air-conditioning.” Kari frowned, trying to not pass judgment. Everyone in southern Florida treated central air as a necessity, not a privilege. “Oh. I never use air-conditioning.” “It’s fairly miserable out here, and I didn’t want the car to heat up again. Black interior,” he said, as if that explained everything. “If you’re ready?” She realized he wanted her to come out. “Of course.” She bit back the acid comment that she’d been ready and waiting on him. He got brownie points for taking her to a vegetarian café, which meant he really had been paying attention to what she’d chosen to tell him about herself. As they ate, she got thrown off balance because their dinner conversation didn’t turn out to be like any she’d ever had on a date before. He asked, “Where were you raised?” “Here.” “Do your parents still live here? Do you live with them?” She didn’t answer either question, not at first. She couldn’t remember ever telling a guy, not even after half a dozen dates, about her parents. “My parents died.” God, did I really say that? “I’m sorry.” Now she felt sorry for him because he’d truly seemed sincere, and she felt bad for shocking him into an uncomfortable silence. She’d learned a long time ago that you just don’t tell people the truth all the time. “No, no, it’s okay. I hardly remember them. I was six when they died. I don’t ever even think about them.” He leaned forward, pressing two fingers gently to her lips to get her to stop talking. It was a bad habit, rambling when she got nervous. “Who raised you?” “My grandparents, my mother’s parents,” she answered, surprised he hadn’t asked her how her parents had died. It seemed like everyone she had ever told immediately wanted all the gruesome details. He scored high for not making her tell him. “That’s how I ended up in sunny Florida, retirement capital of the world.” “Tell me about them?” “They were ancient as stones. Wrinkled, wise, they got a handful when they got me. Granddad always blamed grandmom for spoiling me rotten, and of course my grandmother said it was all his fault. I never heard the word ‘no.’” Julian smiled, and it was a beauteous smile. He’d seemed so austere until that moment. “They sound like good people.” She nodded, not knowing what to say. It was always hard to talk about her grandparents without sounding ungrateful. How could she say My grandmother was an alcoholic or My grandfather slept most of the time and could never remember my name without seeming ungracious? She pressed her lips together. This was why she never told anyone anything about her childhood. It was too weird for words. Kari tried to think of one good thing. “She made the best sugar cookies ever. I loved coming home from school and finding the house scented with fresh-baked sugar cookies. My granddad always wore a cardigan, even in the summer, and his constant companion was his pipe.” “What flavor tobacco?” “Cherry vanilla.” “When did they die?” Kari looked at the desert on her plate, suddenly not interested. She hated admitting they were gone too. “Five years ago, granddad died from pneumonia. He’d always suffered dementia from Alzheimer’s and had a smoker’s cough, but I don’t think grandmom realized how desperately ill he was and blamed herself. She suffered a heart attack at his funeral…and died there…beside the casket. He was eighty-two and she was eighty-six. They were old. Really old.” She didn’t know why she’d said so much. Maybe she was assuring herself they’d had a long, full life. Or maybe it was because Julian seemed so easy to talk to. He patted her hand but didn’t say anything, which was a good thing in her mind. She hated when people said I’m sorry orHow horrible. Thankfully that was the end of Julian’s twenty questions. He suggested they walk on the beach, and it was strangely romantic because he’d unlaced her army boots and rolled her acid green and royal purple striped thigh highs down her legs so that she could walk barefoot in the sand. “I never come here during the daytime,” he admitted. “I’m not a big fan of the sun.” “Me either. Do you miss the UK?” “Not as much now as I did. When we first moved here, I threatened my parents with running away every day, but I couldn’t figure out how to get back across the ocean.” “That sucks.” “Yeah. I’ll move back home someday.” His voice held such longing, she thought she might be feeling the stirrings of love in her heart. Most likely it was only lust even though when he took her home, she was still unsure about whether she wanted to invite him into her house or not. Julian stepped around an obvious drawing on the ground. “There are symbols drawn in chalk on your porch.” “Yes, veve, powerful voodoo.” She laughed. “The Goth Girl has some skills. This is the house I grew up in. Once upon a time it was a nice neighborhood. Lately it’s not quite as safe as it used to be. I think the thieves and the punks mostly leave me alone because they fear me.” Kneeling, she pointed at the first symbol. “This is Aret…for protection of home and family.” She touched the second symbol. “This one is also for protection; though it’s usually used in cemeteries, I wanted to use it here because it represents Maman Brigette.” Julian knelt beside her, met her gaze, and placed his hand over hers so that they were both touching the heart. “I think it’s very appropriate. Many believe the power of Maman Brigette is also seen in the mythology of Brigid or Bride. Powerful women. Healers. Warriors. Passionate.” He was so near and the energy passing between them was thick with sexual anticipation. She bit her lip, expecting a kiss. She knew she’d base her decision on whether to invite him in or not on how well he kissed. Except he didn’t kiss her. Confused, she stood and unlocked her door, and turned to face him. This was his last chance to secure an invite inside. If he didn’t kiss her now -- Without warning, he sat down on one of the wooden chairs and pulled her facedown over his lap. Kari struggled, but he held her in such a way that she couldn’t escape. He spanked her hard. She couldn’t believe what was happening, seeing white light, stars, feeling fear… He released her, and she ran to the other side of the porch, bottom smarting, heart racing. “What the fuck?” “Is your heart racing? Palms sweating? Head pounding?” Yes, all of those. She refused to say anything. She was so mad, she couldn’t think of anything to say. Then it dawned on her that they were in plain view of any neighbor who happened to pass by or look through their windows. The front porch offered absolutely no privacy. “Anyone could have seen!” “And that embarrasses you?” “No. I don’t know. I just think you should go.” He stood and smiled. “You’re feeling something for me right now. You can’t be sure what it is, but there is definitely emotion running through your veins.” Kari gasped. “Naomi told you about our conversation? That was private!” He chuckled as he headed toward his car, and she hurried inside, slammed the door, locked it, then raced around the room closing all the shutters. It was a long time before her heart stopped racing because every time she replayed the moment in her mind, it started racing all over again. And she couldn’t stop thinking about it. It disturbed her deeply. She was hiding, but she wasn’t afraid…at least not of him. If anything she wanted him -- she was turned on, wetter than she’d ever been -- and that she didn’t understand. Later, lying in bed, she watched the clock’s time tick relentlessly by. Unable to distract her thoughts from her tingling ass another second, she climbed out of bed and went to the bathroom to look at her bare bottom in the mirror. There wasn’t a mark, not even any redness to prove what had happened actually had, and she found herself disappointed. She spread her hand out over her hip, remembering how it had felt for his hand to hit her. She felt like she shouldn’t be thinking about it. These were the games of Naomi and her kinky friends. “I’m not kinky!” She smacked her ass to prove it, leaving her handprint, pink and angry-looking, against her pale skin. She wished it was Julian’s handprint. She wanted to look and see it so she would know for a fact it wasn’t a dream, a hallucination. She called him, knowing it would take him at least forty-five minutes to get home, and he didn’t seem the type of guy to go to bed straightaway. She guessed he would still be awake. He answered on the third ring. “I’m sorry to call so late; did I wake you?” “No, not at all. I stopped by Jaegers on the way home.” She knew Jaegers was a sports pub on the other side of town and wasn’t exactly surprised he hadn’t gone home. He certainly wasn’t the kind of guy who would toss and turn over a bad date. “I shouldn’t have called. I’m sorry.” “Kari?” The sound of music coming through the phone dropped considerably, and she realized he must have stepped outside because there was a rush of wind over the speaker. “I’m glad you called.” “I-I…” Kari stumbled over her tongue. “I’m sorry I overreacted.” He chuckled. “You reacted. I like honest reactions. Don’t apologize for that.” She thought he might apologize for taking her by surprise, for spanking her, but he didn’t, and she wasn’t quite sure where to take the conversation from there, which left a monstrous silence she was forced to fill with a heavy sigh. “Kari?” He said her name softly. “Why are you calling me?” She thought about how she’d felt while he was spanking her -- the heart-pounding fear -- and how she wanted to feel it again. Could she admit that to him -- that she wanted to feel emotion again, even if it was fear? She stayed silent because she was so confused she couldn’t even begin to put it into words. “Are you there?” he asked. “Yes,” she whispered. “I’d like to see you again, and I feel like I blew it tonight.” “I’ll call you in the morning, and if you’re still interested in a second date, we’ll set it up, okay?” Hanging up, she knew that’s what she wanted. She wanted a second date. But she lay in bed, still tossing and turning, because the phone call hadn’t helped. She didn’t understand why she was so worked up over this guy. She never felt anything when she was with someone. And why, as she slid her fingers through her damp slit, was she thinking about his hand coming down on her ass? The next day she was exhausted from not sleeping and laid on the couch, flipping television channels randomly as she entertained the idea of not answering the phone when he called. No man was worth this much brain space. Honestly, when had she ever thought of any man so much? Never. But when the phone rang, she jumped to answer it, knowing if she didn’t answer it, she’d never forgive herself. She had to see him again. The phone call didn’t go anything like how she’d planned it in her head. She’d been going to take charge of the situation and let him know she would enjoy dancing or dinner and a movie, but she didn’t want him to think of her as kinky. “You know I’m going to spank you again.” “Yes,” she whispered; her pounding heart demanded it. “I want our second date to be special, memorable. I want to be the guy you never forget.” Kari swallowed hard, her pussy clenching at the dark promise of his words. She imagined his hand coming down on her bare bottom, his fingers sliding between her thighs to find her wet and ready. Oh God. Holding the phone with her chin, she unzipped her pants and slid her fingers into her panties. She was wet, so wet, just from Julian’s words. “Kari? Are you still there?” “Yes. Yes, Julian, I’m here.” “It’s important that you dress exactly as I tell you. Do you understand?” She was confused. He wanted her to wear something special? “I understand.” She teased her clit with her fingers, thinking it might be fun to come while she listened to his voice. “I want you to wear white cotton panties and a white cotton bra, no frills. I want you to wear a pull-on knit shirt and a flared skirt that hits above your knee. Do you understand?” She frowned. She’d never had anyone tell her how to dress before. She didn’t know that she liked that. She didn’t even own a flared skirt. She knew cotton skirts were popular right now, but they weren’t really her taste. She’d only ever seen them in bright floral or ethnic prints. This would require shopping. She imagined bending over his lap and having him push up her skirt. Would he leave her panties over her bottom? Or would he pull them down, exposing her skin. Her pussy tightened with the thought, and she slid a finger inside to feel her muscles squeezing. Heat flared against her fingers. Just the thought of being spanked again was making her so damn horny. “I can’t wait to see you,” she told him, and it was the truth. She’d never been so excited about a second date in her life. | |

The Kids Are All Right...but is the Movie?
Yikes...more gay movie controversy.
I've been anticipating the release of this movie...but after learning that it is the same story told again (lesbian has sex with a man and destroys her happy family) I'm not entirely sure its on the top of my list...
Why can't "Surprisingly new plot twists" sell in Hollywood?
For example... the affair was with another woman and the sperm donor becomes an even more important part of their family because he helps the women come to terms with the betrayal...and helps the kids understand their parents are only human with flaws and show them how to embrace forgiveness...
Instead, we get another boy gets the lesbian...eek.
Here are two very popular reviews (with some spoilers)

Vow of Silence
Today I started the sixth Chronicle of Surrender, not known as Book 6 but rather Dr.Psycho.
As you can tell I had a lot of help getting through Chapter One:
Sadie and Tilak gave their seal of approval...
Me, I'm not so sure...Chapter One may become Chapter Two. Not sure at this point but I'm plugging along.
As far s Jazzi goes... she is much improved... eating, drinking, and begging to play frisbee!

Say A Prayer For Jazzi
I'm very worried about my sick girl, a 1/2 black lab, 1/2 australian shepherd mix. She is a very sick girl.
She got choked on a raw hide chewy yesterday and after vomiting hard enough to dislodge it seemed fine, but then proceeded to vomit several more times. I thought she'd just irritated her throat but upon further investigation my microbiologist hubby who isn't squeamish at all reported that something strange was going on. It seems what she'd thrown up hadn't come from us. So now he thinks the raw hide wasn't the culprit at all.
We feed her dry food...
What she threw up was obviously trash pickings...macaroni and corn. The troubling part is that neither of those things were in our garbage.
Now, I'm guilt ridden because she ran out of our fenced yard for a few minutes while I was watering the garden and has obviously gotten something from our neighbor's (guessing since they had a backyard bar-b-que over the weekend--although she wasn't out of our yard more than a few minutes. That's apparently all it took.)
I called the vet who seemed fairly unconcerned by vomiting as an only symptom.
Am I being overly dramatic to worry about dehydration?
I know the vet knows we always keep her inside with us except for potty breaks and play time, maybe that's why she isn't alarmed, but even in our air-conditioned house, if she isn't eating or drinking anything...it seems like a problem! Now, she's just laying around listlessly and obviously feels horrible.

Longest Cinematographic Kiss in History...
And it goes to the lesbians...
In her new film, Conn wanted to capture the power and magic behind a monumental first kiss, and ended up shooting a 3:24 long kissing scene that breaks the record for longest kiss in cinema history, originally set back in 1941 by — naturally — a heterosexual couple.
Her new project, Elena Undone, follows a well-known lesbian writer who falls for the wife of a pastor. It was conceived by Conn and her partner, Marina Rice Bader, on a weekend getaway when Bader asked, "Why aren't there more lesbian movies out there?" The two decided to "give it a go," and Elena Undone was born. (read more at AfterEllen)
