The dream is to be published...to finally have someone, anyone...read your book other than your critique group, your neighbor, your sister...
and so you submit and submit...
and get rejection letter after rejection letter.
I had friends and family who laughed when I went to an e-publisher (not because of rejection letters in my case...I was actually in the middle of revisions for a second look by St. Martins Press at the time)
And even after being e-published, I had friends and family who advised me I would REGRET going to a small publishing house.
